Transfer talk: How will Toni Kroos fit in Real Madrid’s midfield, especially in La-Liga?
Toni Kroos finally made his move to the Champions League
winners, Real Madrid after a pretty impressive World Cup win for his German team
which he featured in Majority of.
His long awaited signing was announced a couple of days back
and I’m just going to look at how he would fit into the squad (his midfield
role especially).
Looking back at Real Madrid last season in La-Liga, during
the times there was some sort of right tactical search by Mr. Ancelotti, Real
switched different formations, from the 4-2-3-1 to the 4-3-3 which they finally
ended the season with, it really showed that they really needed a
midfielder who could switch between an
AM and a CM. with Isco fading towards January and Illaramendi not having the
same confidence he had at beginning of the season, Real had to turn to Luka
Modric to do most of the work ( not forgetting the exceptional work rate of
Xabi Alonso) and when he couldn’t turn up, it was somewhat not a beautiful from
the capital club.
The missing piece to the puzzle has to be Kroos, he could
fit into a 4-2-3-1 with him playing as the more advanced CM in front of Alonso
and Modric as well as playing in the center with
Modric/Alonso/Khedira/Illaramendi if Isco is chosen to play as the AM or could
play with Modric in a 4-3-3 formation as well. With a midfielder with an eye
for goal like Kroos, there could be very few teams to win the midfield battle
against the current UCL champs.
His performances at the World Cup and in the Champions
League last season for Bayern Munich show that he can perform at the
highest level.
He may be able to help Real Madrid earn the La Liga title.
