Former N.W.A Manager Hints at Lawsuit after Watching “Straight OuttaCompton”
Straight Outta Compton is aiming for the top of the box chart for a third consecutive weekend after it passed the $100 million mark last week. Naturally, success brings along controversy. Dee Barnes already lashed out at the movie for not depicting some of Dr. Dre’s infamous moments. And while her indignation resulted in two essays for Gawker, the producers behind the movie are possible facing serious problems as they might get slapped with a lawsuit.Jerry Heller, former manager of N.W.A hinted at taking legal actions against the film. After watching it on Saturday with his lawyers, he said he is not willing to comment on it just yet, but he might file a lawsuit.
"My only comment so far is that I think it’s inappropriate for me to comment on a movie that I haven’t seen,” Heller told the Los Angeles Times. “I did see it on Saturday, and I’m still not willing to comment right now on that movie because I think sooner or later it may be part of an ongoing litigation.”
In the film, Heller was portrayed by Paul Giamatti, who did a great job. However, the former manager of the rap collective claims had not been consulted in any way during the film’s creation, which means he mind find some facts and scene inaccurate.
