Straight Outta Compton is aiming for the top of the box chart for a third consecutive weekend after it passed the $100 million mark last week. Naturally, success brings along controversy. Dee Barnes already lashed out at the movie for not depicting some of Dr. Dre’s infamous moments. And while her indignation resulted in two essays for Gawker, the producers behind the movie are possible facing serious problems as they might get slapped with a lawsuit.Jerry Heller, former manager of N.W.A hinted at taking legal actions against the film. After watching it on Saturday with his lawyers, he said he is not willing to comment on it just yet, but he might file a lawsuit.

"My only comment so far is that I think it’s inappropriate for me to comment on a movie that I haven’t seen,” Heller told the Los Angeles Times. “I did see it on Saturday, and I’m still not willing to comment right now on that movie because I think sooner or later it may be part of an ongoing litigation.”

In the film, Heller was portrayed by Paul Giamatti, who did a great job. However, the former manager of the rap collective claims had not been consulted in any way during the film’s creation, which means he mind find some facts and scene inaccurate.

Former N.W.A Manager Hints at Lawsuit after Watching “Straight OuttaCompton”

Last night, Lil Wayne’s first annual Lil Weezyana Fest, a benefit for his Tha Carter Fund on the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, went down in New Orleans and offered a Hot Boys reunion in addition to guest performances from Master P and Drake. Since Weezy is an official co-owner of TIDAL, the event was streamed live via the Hov-helmed service. Little did he suspect, bringing out Drizzy, who is an avid Apple Music rep, brought the streaming platform even more problems. According to Page Six, Apple Music threatened to sue TIDAL for $20 million if Drake makes an appearance and it gets streamed on the web. Quite obviously, the Canadian’s deal with Apple Music doesn’t allow cross-platform performance.
"Legal letters have been sent to Tidal warning that Drake cannot appear on the Tidal stream of the festival, either solo or part of a group, and if the warning was ignored, the liabilities could be up to $20 million,” a source told Page Six."

Since Drizzy ultimately blessed the stage, TIDAL was forced to cut the live feed. Those who were watching the stream saw the message, “Apple is interfering with artistry and will not allow this artist to stream. Sorry for Big Brother’s inconvenience. We’ll be back after the performance.” Drake’s brief set included “My Way,” “HYFR,” “Back To Back” and “Know Yourself.” Lil Wayne played his hypeman and interestingly enough shouted out Nicki Minaj at the end. Watch footage shot from the crowd further below. Music industry executives recently shared the opinion TIDAL will last less than a year. With Birdman demanding $50 million from the platform and Jay Z reportedly looking forward to depart from it, another $20 million lawsuit might be the last nail in the coffin.

Just the other day, Mike Dean teased Travi$ Scott's upcoming album Rodeo once again by sharing a table which suggested he is mixing and mastering the full-length record. Bad news is the rapper will not live up to his words and his debut LP will not come out before August as he previously promised. Good news is we finally have the exact release date for Rodeo.
The man himself performed at the MADE x The Eighth Launch Party in Manhattan. During his act, he reminded the audience he is currently working on his debut album and unveiled the project is coming out due on September 4th.

"I'm working on my album Rodeo right now in New York. My album's coming out September 4th. I just finalized that date right now."

Minutes after he made the announcement, Trav took to Twitter to tell his followers he will not let them down and will make it up for the extensive delay. "I GOT U GUYS BELIEVE IN THE LA FLAME THIS WONT BE A LET DOWN SINCERELY T,"he wrote. With almost 2 months to go before he liberates the LP, La Flame will most probably bless us with another single or at least the music video for “3500” featuring Future and 2 Chainz which he recently shot with director Nabil.

The full title of Kendrick Lamar's recent album is "To Pimp A Butterfly: A Blank Letter By Kendrick Lamar."

On first listen Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly seemed to contain a ton of mysteries that needed unpacking. To whom exactly does the butterfly/caterpillar parable pertain? How did he get that Tupac interview? Is he really okay with forgiving Michael Jackson's child molestation charges because of "Billie Jean"? In the weeks after its release, we've come to learn more about the album (including which song K Dot would've featured Pac on), and today, a new wrinkle presents itself.
In addition to the Tupac tidbit, another thing Kendrick shared during his Mass Appeal interview was the fact that TPAB's physical copies feature hidden braille inside. Complex spoke with a teacher of the visually impaired, and she said the message translates to "A Kendrick By Letter Blank Lamar." They guess that he meant it to read "A Blank Letter by Kendrick Lamar," which makes sense when you consider that good kid, m.A.A.d city's subtitle was "A Short Film By Kendrick Lamar." Check out a picture of the inside packaging

Syk Sense, one of the producer's of Drake's "6 God," clears up Jace Of Two 9's implication that Drake stole the beat from him.

yesterday, we reported on some tweets from Two-9 rapper Jace {CLICK HERE TO SEE TWEETS}, in which he implied that Drake's "6 God" and "No Tellin" beats were originally his. While he supplied the audio to back it up, the co-producer of "6 God" has now weighed in, revealing that Drake was the original owner of the beats, and that he never heard Jace's take.

“I don’t know why Jace put it on Twitter like that, because I was in the studio the night he did it and we had a conversation. I said, ‘Don’t put it out there that Drake stole it, because he didn't,” Syk told AllHipHop. “Drake had that beat first.”
According to Syk, Jace never even finished his version of the song, recording only one verse. “I told him he should release the record once he finishes it, because it’s pretty cool," said the producer. "But don’t make it seem like Drake stole that from you.”
So far, we haven't heard anything about the origins of "No Tellin," but it'll be harder for Jace to convince people the beat was stolen from him if Syk's story is true.

Last we heard, Amber Rose seemed like she was leaning toward working things out with Wiz Khalifa, but some new photos of Rose getting pretty close with Machine Gun Kelly have Twitter going up. We can't confirm whether or not the two are actually an item, but the pics being passed around seem to indicate something's going down.
TMZ's sources say that MGK was being pretty liberal with the public booty-grabbing at LAX today, and another shot shows the two out for a stroll while very much holding hands.

Check out the photos above for yourself, and watch MGK's collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, "Mind Of A Stoner" below. Guess stoner minds think alike.

Jace of Two-9 had recorded over "6 God" and "No Tellin" last summer.

Jace, signed to Mike Will's Ear Drummers, would first like to say: "i'm just sayin." Last Thursday (April 23), the member of both Two-9 and Retro Su$h! tweeted out two videos of old recordings that sound very familiar. He first takes us into his Macbook and shows us a song called "Mortal Kombat" that dates back to last July. He then presses play and we hear the "6 God" beat from Drake's If You're Reading This Its Too Late. We only hear about 15 seconds of Jace's version, though he soon made his message clear, tweeting: "real 6ix god boy."
Then, "more shots." Jace shows us another song, this time called "Ain't No Tellin," that he made two years ago. As expected, it's the same beat from Drake's "No Tellin." His final words on the matter: "im not salty. like i said... im just saying."

On IYRTITL, the "6 God" beat is attributed to Boi-1da and SykSense, the latter of whom is a member of The Fam with fellow Nashville producer Ducko Mcfli, a close collaborator of Jace and Two-9. Syk and Boi-1da also produced Two-9's "Check At," put out by the LA Leakers in January. "No Tellin" is attributed to Boi-1da and Toronto producer Frank Dukes, so no telling how that ended up in Jace's hands.
This is not the first time Drizzy's been accused of stealing beats. Is there foul play here?
See all of Jace's tweets below.

Nas says during a live show that he's dropping a new album this summer.

After giving us a teaser with the old school-flavored "Season," produced by the legendary J. Dilla back in October, Nas has kept pretty quiet. While the song hinted that he was working on new music/a new album, Nas hasn't spoken directly to that. Instead, he's been busy working with his Mass Appeal signees like Fashawn and Boldy James, as well as an appearance onMadonna's new album and a new De La Soul record.
Although we've yet to see the fruits of his labor, Nas is indeed working on a new album. The rapper announced it to fans during a show in Orlando this past weekend, and someone in the crowd managed to catch it on Instagram. In the fan-made video, Nas says, "Right muthafuckin’ now, death to all snitches. Watch every nigga around you my niggas ‘cuz shit is real out here. 2015, new album this summer."
Watch the video below, and we'll keep you posted.

At the 2015 Nigerian Entertainment Conference,  Choc’ City’s C.E.O, Audu Maikori officially announced his stepping down as the C.E.O of the entertainment company.
In his words below:
“At this point I have decided to step down as CEO of Chocolate City to allow for the younger generation to steer the ship. My resignation takes effect from June, but I wont disclose who will take over from me until then
I have headed Chocolate City for the past 10 years and its been the most amazing period of my life despite the many challenges that came with it. There were times, I would get home and wished I wouldn’t have to go to work the next day. Some other times, artistes will need money and even though unavailable, we still have to find a way
At Chocolate City, we have adopted what I will like to call the “360 deal” approach. This caters for the artiste as a brand in totality and seeks to promote and better his craft, sales, management, endorsement as well as appeal to fans, rather than just sell his albums”

Rapper Wale has had a rough couple of years, and what better way is there to learn from it all than by writing an album about nothing?

"Lord, my all, what you think of it? Been on this long road accumulating luggage. As time proceeds, preoccupied with everything, I think it's 'bout time that I sing of nothing."
Wale’s fourth studio album, deceptively titled The Album About Nothing, is what happens when a rapper devotes 10 years to his craft, switches labels, subsequently tops the Billboard charts, loses a close friend to a car accident then a child to miscarriage soon after, and realizes that the music industry, the one place he desperately seeks approval, still fails to recognize him as a force amongst his peers. The Seinfeld-inspired album is a 14-track therapy session that takes audiences through the last few years of Wale’s personal and professional struggles, and may be a return to the melodic, heartfelt spoken word for which he was well-known and intermittently loved. A hefty handful of the songs on The Album About Nothing are definitely saying something, and although not a flawless piece of work, they seem to mark a new beginning for the rapper.
Here are 10 things The Album About Nothing is actually about.

The fans.
The album’s second track “Helium Balloon” is a banger that addresses the music fans that don’t understand the necessity of growth and experimentation in art. He raps “You get too fun 'til your core fans au revoir,” alongside Jerry Seinfeld’s commentary explaining that musicians are like helium balloons whose fans are connected to them by string; and, “when a kid gets a helium balloon, he's holding that string and he's keeping this balloon from going anywhere. But he also wants to let it go.” It’s a song recognizing that commercial success does not necessarily forebode a loss of substantial content...from an artist who clearly lost some of his substance on the road to commercial success (see: "Clappers" ft. Nicki Minaj and Juicy J circa 2013). He implies it’s all good as long as the check clears, rapping “Tell the purist that laugh I don't reach out for daps 'cause "No Hands" triple platinum.” Oop!

The loss of a child.
In routine interviews leading up to the release of TAAN, Wale  promised to deliver a deeply personal project that would address a miscarriage the woman he was with during recording suffered, and the ways it affected him mentally and spiritually. On songs like “The Middle Finger” Wale raps “Miscarried my first child, ain't finna come out fuck the therapy route, where the syrup and loud?" And, on one of my favorites from this project, “The Matrimony” featuring Usher, he further explains his struggle coping with the loss saying, “Now I'm up in the club with a couple of Move On's and dark, troubled heart. Went from falling in love to drunk and falling apart. This is hard, tryna find some time to move on cause when we lost our baby, I got shady she got too dark.”

Dealing with anxiety and depression in the spotlight using alcohol and drugs.
The Album About Nothing is dripping with references to substance abuse with lines like “Blue 30 come around, there's the smile. Opiated, could show up later with more elation.” And, in a recent interview with Billboard Wale opened up about pill popping and taking whatever he needed to take in order to present “the right mood” in interviews. He told the publication, “I was depressed not being where I wanna be in my career when I've put the work in. I wasn't sleeping. I was drinking all day and I didn't have anyone to go to. I couldn't fight it.”

The music industry and wanting to quit rap.
As expected, the rapper also tackles the subject of respect and recognition in the music industryor, in his case, the lack thereof. On “The Matrimony” he raps “Wanted to quit, rap music sucks. But couldn't run a 4.2, so with you I'm stuck,” and in his interview with Billboard he explained that it hurts knowing that he works just as hard as peers, but still deals with dismissal and disrespect. “Everyone says, ‘Be patient. It'll happen,’” he said, “But all signs are showing, no, it won't happen… I want some respect. I want to go to a party and not have Katy Perry  tell her security to move me out of the fuckin' way. We do the same thing.”

Building confidence and an identity.
Unlike Wale’s past albums that were packed with features, there are no guest verses on TAAN, and Wale does a good job of carrying this album on his own. His poetic lyrical content and cadence sound great over a live band, as he incorporates some gogo into this project, and I can not imagine anyone from Maybach Music Group  trying to keep up. This slow return to his musical roots is telling, and Wale may finally be figuring out where he fits in and is refining his style to reflect that. J.Cole, SZA, Jeremih and Usher make small appearances assisting with hooks and melodies, but this album is purposefully 100% Wale. “Hate to be the bearer of bad news,” he raps “But I can't move with too many rap dudes. I respect dudes from my double M crew, but I'm just not that dude hanging on to who's who's and such.”

Guidance.
Jerry Seinfeld is a large part of this album, and not only does he guide the narrative, but he’s guiding the rapper, advising him. What were once clips and snippets from the popular sitcom, are now actual conversations between the comedian and the rapper. In that same Billboard interview, Wale  explains that he didn’t have the encouragement or guidance of his parents in pursuit of a music career or in many of his other endeavors, so it’s interesting to hear Seinfeld act as somewhat of a mentor.

Balancing fame and friends.
TAAN also focuses in on Wale’s struggle to maintain his essence in a music industry that seems to swallow everyone near it. He raps on “The Glass Egg” that sometimes money lets the devil out, and asks “so was it worth your fam or worth all the fame? Exchange your personal relationships for personal gains I'm telling you, balance is a bitch.”

Race and social injustice.
Yep, Wale even made one of those conscious rap songs for you purists, and it features some vocals from J.Cole. The song highlights the abject poverty, police brutality and posttraumatic stress that all urban neighborhoods are plagued with. He deems the situations hopeless because “why complain about the man when a nigga with my skin, the same problems with them I had, is out there killin' n*ggas too?” On “The God Smile,” he raps “The white girl destroyed the black neighborhood, so white boys can run the world,” highlighting the sentient efforts made to damage black community.

Love, of course.
It just wouldn’t be a Wale album without some talk of women and relationships. Wale’s not shy about expressing that he wants to love and be loved eternally and unconditionally, even if that means having to throw a couple thousand ones for a small taste of it.

Letting go. Overall, The Album About Nothing is about release. Wale has obviously had a rough past few years, and he needed a place to put some of the fear, pain and disappointment he’s experienced. Thus, TAAN was born. It’s not actually as deep as he had promised, but my hopes are that he’ll continue to tap into the other sides of himself; because art can be fun, but it is also heartfelt, and as a poet, he’d been missing that for a moment.
