Kanye West will perform "Black Skinhead" at the MTV VMAs this year, and will tie Madonna for most VMA performances of all time.

Kanye West has had a memorable history at the VMAs. Apart from contributing 6 memorable perfomances over the last ten years, he's also had a backstage meltdown, and experienced one of the most infamous moments of his career-- the Taylor Swift incident.

Whether or not Kanye will make a lasting impression with his "Black Skinhead" performance this year, he will still be making VMA history once again, as his seventh musical appearance at the award show will tie him with Madonna for the most VMA performances of all time.

MTV made the announcement with a photo featuring a copy of Yeezus, the MTV Moonman award, and some "damn croissants". View the pic in the gallery above.

The show airs at 9 p.m. on August 24 at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center.

Tyler, The Creator explains the reasoning behind denying Kanye West a verse on his new album.

Tyler, The Creator is known for his shock tactics, but perhaps the most shocking thing he did this year was reveal that he had denied Kanye West a feature on "IFHY" after Yeezy asked to hop on the track.

Wolf Haley never fully explained why he didn't allow Kanye to drop a verse on the song, which seems strange, especially since he has spoken of how their friendship has grown over the last while. Fortunately, he now has an explanation for his actions, and it's an admirable one.

“It was just that I played him the album before it was finished and it was a song that he really, really liked on there and he really liked it a lot and he wanted to be on it or whatever. And the way I do features I specifically pick people for what they’re featured on. And that song, it was nowhere where creative-wise where I thought he would fit on there.” he said.

Tyler explained that he didn't want the denial to come off as anything other than a creatice choice. “Kanye is one of the only few people in this industry that I consider a friend. I’ll probably talk to him once a week and we just—we both have a love for art and we hate a lot of the same stuff. So, I don’t want people to think that’s a diss or like a side hit when I said I denied him.”

The OF rapper also revealed that he may want to put down the mic fairly soon. “Rap isn’t even my fuckin—I mean, I love it, but like that’s not what I really draw a lot of inspiration from at all…I’m just trying to invest in shit, so I don’t have to make music three years from now and I could be rich off of that. I am not kidding,” he said.

Jay Z talks about his family life and its influence on his music, as well as his relationship with Kanye West.

Jay Z's interview with BBC1 Radio's Zane Lowe was released in its final part yesterday, where Hov discussed fatherhood, his future, his wifey Beyonce, and his relationship with Kanye West.

Hov expanded the content of his music in Magna Carta Holy Grail, with the birth of Blue Ivy, we see Jay find a focus on fatherhood and his desire to be a good parent. As a writer, Jay explains in the interview how having a child gave him that new-found energy and focus.

"I'm a writer," Jay Z said. "So, literally, I'm saying, 'the birth of my child gave me this new energy and focus' so 'Blue told me to remind you' but just the energy and focus. She obviously can't say, 'Fuck the shit y'all talkin' 'bout. My dad's the one.' She's 17 months. I mean, [laughing], she's amazing but come on. So, I'm using a metaphor to say that her energy and presence gave me the focus again to remind you exactly who I am.'"

Jay Z went on to discuss how he has to learn to balance his work schedule and family life, which is an added complication."I'm tryna put up a tour and I'm tryna align the schedules now. I woulda just done the tour, I woulda just announced it today on the show, but I have to make sure my schedule can align properly and it's work, it's not this care-free we gunna put up 100-and-whatever shows and be gone for four years, it has to be carefully mapped. There's two entertainers in the house so that has to also be considered," Hov explained.

After discussing his relationship with Beyonce and the possibility of the power couple doing a joint tour (it's out there, but can't be "gimmicky" Jay says), Hov discussed his relationship with Kanye and the Watch The Throne tour.

"It actually was really easy because of the relationship," Jay said of being on tour with 'Ye. "It's always been a big brother thing and a respect thing. It's always a good experience but he's gonna challenge everything because he's really trying to test it and poke holes to make sure that it stands up to the test, which is good. I admire that. It kind of works for me."
